Decorating a home

Decorating a home is not an easy task, but with some perseverance and a little bit of know how - it can be done. We often talk about modern home design, but today we are going to think a bit about classic stylings and how they can add a great deal of warmth to any room. This style wont be to everyones tastes, but rest assured, when it is done right the results can be spectacular.

Why not start out creating that classic looks with some beautiful old furniture? You would be surprised at what you can find at your local auction house or antiques dealer. I would recommend buying up the tired, cheaper pieces and having them restored/customised by a carpenter. I achieved this to great effect with some old picture frames that i picked up cheaply at auction.

For that interior design chic, look up collectable figurines from the likes of Compton and Woodhouse, who supply a range of Royal Worcester, Lladro and Royal Doulton pieces amongst other notable producers. They also stock collectable plates and glassware if you wanted to create a more period look.

For the walls, why not try a vintage wallpaper style? Farrow & Ball, a UK based company established in the 1930’s are the leaders in imitation period style papers and paints. This traditional look will add warmth and elegance to a living space without having to spend a small fortune.

With only a few small touches, you can create a classic looking home without breaking the bank. Why not get planning today, for that period look tommorow.
